Mr Maulik Gandhi has a sub-specialist interest in helping patients suffering with pain or reduced function due to their shoulder or elbow. He takes a holistic approach in understanding patients and their problems. He appreciates that a management plan for one patient, may not be suitable or desirable for another. Management plans are a shared decision making process and are based on evidence. Not all management plans require surgery, but when they do, he offers:
key-hole (arthroscopic) shoulder surgery for rotator cuff tears, shoulder stabilisation, SLAP repairs, capsular release for frozen shoulder, calcific tendinopathy, acromio-clavicular joint disruptions or arthritis
open shoulder surgery to deal with arthritis (shoulder replacements), acute/delayed surgery to deal with fractures (or sequalae of trauma) of the shoulder and humerus
open surgery around the elbow to deal with tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis), ulnar nerve entrapment (cubital tunnel syndrome), biceps tendon ruptures, olecranon bursitis, elbow arthritis/stiffness and elbow fractures
carpal tunnel decompression
